NYSE Chairman Bullish on Bitcoin and Digital Asset Longevity
Chairman of the New York Stock Exchange NYSE Jeff Sprecher expressed the idea that “bitcoin and other digital assets are here to stay” at a recent CoinDesk Consensus: Invest conference.
To better frame this, one should understand:
- Sprecher is married to the CEO of the new ICE company Bakkt Kelly Loeffier. And, ICE is the parent company of the NYSE. So while he is putting his mouth where his money is and money where his mouth is, he does have some bias toward crypto.
- Sprecher isn’t saying he is bullish on the current price of Bitcoin. He is saying, “as an exchange operator it’s not our objective to opine on prices.” In words, he isn’t bullish or bearish on the price, he is “no comment” on the price, but bullish on the idea that digital assets will have longevity and that Bitcoin will sustain its role in the center of the crypto economy.
