A list of noteworthy exchanges one can use to buy/sell cryptocurrency. Novices are advised to start with Coinbase/Coinbase Pro.

First off, you should note that we almost exclusively review exchanges that we have used, with solid volume, that have built a positive reputation for themselves over time.

With that said, in a few cases where we are prohibited due to region / country, like with BitMEX, we have not used the exchange to do live trading.

In other words, these are generally all exchanges we would recommend to a friend based on reputation and/or have used ourselves.

With the above said, there are risks associated with any exchange and you must use each at your own risk.

There are specifically risks with leaving cryptocurrency on an exchange, exchanges going down, and risks in terms of placing orders (if you mess up a buy/sell order, there is no going back).

Take some time to understand the risks before trading. With that said, if you do want to trade, the following exchanges are some of the best cryptocurrency exchanges we have come across.
