Coinbase Launches Coinbase Commerce for Merchant Services

Coinbase’s Coinbase Commerce Explained

Coinbase launched a new platform, Coinbase Commerce. The goal is to provide an easy to use platform for merchant services (for businesses to accept cryptocurrencies). This is essentially an upgrade of Coinbase’s existing merchant services platform.

The platform currently handles all Coinbase coins, so Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, and Litecoin.

Coinbase Commerce makes it easy to take payments and to track payments and then to cash out into dollars when you are ready. It also integrates with popular platforms like Shopify.

According to one of two versions of the official site, features of Coinbase Commerce include:

  • Setup in minutes
  • 2-Click Coinbase payments
  • Accept any bitcoin payments
  • Customizable
  • Mobile Friendly
  • Full API

You can test run the interface by donating to the Khan Academy (go to coinbase.com/merchants and scroll down to the “donate Bitcoin” button under “see it in action.”

This service is aimed both at small and large businesses, generally providing a quick and easy way for any business to accept the top cryptocurrencies as payment.
