Do a Double take on Any Crypto News From April 1st (April Fools Day)
Just a reminder, any news that came out about crypto on April 1st (April Fools) is likely to be an April Fools joke. Here are a few examples of April Fools crypto jokes to illustrate.
I can’t list every crypto April Fools joke here, but here are 3 examples:
- An OMG Hard Spoon. Where instead of “forking,” OMG and Cosmos plan to “spoon” instead.
- Vitalik Buterin’s World Trade Francs (WTF). A stable coin that combines all benefits of capitalism and socialism with none of the downsides of either. Unfortunately, the ICO will only accept lizardcoins as payment. On the plus side, the team includes Vitalik Vuterin, Obama, and a Moose (seems like a five star team).
- An announcement from Tumblr that they launched a cryptocurrency called Tumblcoin. This one is an “unstable coin,” and it comes with posts about it forking and crashing and generally being chaotic over its extremely short 14 hour lifespan (hahah… “ha;” funny because it speaks to truth about crypto).
These are three of many examples. The concept here is to throw a little humor your way AND to remind you not to go buying OMG over the hard spoon or sending your money to someone in a chat room to get in on the ground floor of WTF (or whatever).
