I personally think Bitcoin’s 2014 price chart is worth comparing to the current 2018 chart, as there are many similarities. Here are some thoughts on the comparison.
As we have essentially known for sometime, ICOs are almost certainly going to be treated as securities by the SEC. This means about 1/2 of the top coins are likely to be considered securities by the SEC.
Coinbase is on track to operate as a regulated broker-dealer, meaning they are acquiring the proper licenses and waiting approval by federal authorities.
Bitcoin has been bottoming out between $6k – $7k since its high. This can be explained in a few ways, including by the cost of mining and by some technical factors.
The SEC has appointed their first “Crypto Czar” (a Cryptocurrency specialist who will coordinate efforts across all SEC Divisions and Offices regarding the application of U.S. securities laws to ICOs, cryptocurrencies, and digital assets in general.
